The 3rd 

annual “L3: Writers’ Conference,” slated for April 15th & 16th - 2010, welcomes some of Canada’s finest novelists, poets, journalists and broadcasters to Barrie.  Schedules, author profiles and information can be found at www.l3writers.ca .

Highlights for 2010 include the following:

STEPHEN BRUNT, KELLEY ARMSTRONG, KIM ECHLIN, DAVE BIDINI, REBECCA ECKLER, RAY ROBERTSON, MOLLY PEACOCK, LAUREN KIRSHNER and LISA FOAD.

Local writers are spotlighted this year on Friday afternoon (April 16th) in “CELEBRATE SIMCOE” – readers include
DR. BRUCE MEYER, ROGER BELL, ADAM SOL, DAMIAN LOPES, TREASA DRISCOLL, PETER MCKEWEN … TBA for more.

Public Readings will take place on the following:

- Thursday, April 15th - 7:00 – 9:00pm @ Barrie North Collegiate

- Friday, April 16th - “Celebrate Simcoe” – 1:00 – 2:30pm @        Barrie’s Downtown Theatre

- Friday, April 16th, 7:00 – 9:00pm @ Georgian College Theatre.

Tickets are $15/adult  &  $10/student  (each night)
“Celebrate Simcoe” is FREE!

This conference came about when a small group of municipal cultural managers decided to bring together those invested in the arts and highlight some of the amazing cultural activities of the near north.  The title “Culture Grows Here” came from discussions around cultivating culture in our own communities and creating opportunities with available resources.
