August 18 – Outdoor Film Series, Lawn Chair Luminata
Hi everyone, please join us for our last free outdoor screening of the summer. We will be showing "LADDER 49" this Wednesday at Centennial Park.
Come early and check out the fire trucks and meet your Barrie Firefighters! The Barrie Fire and Emergency Service and Barrie Firefighter Community Projects will have giveaways for the kids and fire safety information for the parents. Food will be provided by THE BUTCHER SHOP and their massive Fire Truck Barbeque.
Then at dusk join us for a film under the stars as we present LADDER 49 - a well-crafted tribute to the many dedicated firefighters who risk their life to make our world a little safer.
There will also be art and music happening as part of Lawn Chair Luminata. Please be sure to check the locations highlighted below.
Here is Wednesday evening’s complete schedule:
4 to 7:00 pm - MacLaren Art Mural Team, Collier Street parkade
7:00 pm - Shane Beutler, Heritage Park Gazebo
8:00 pm – Hazy Maidens – Julie McCann and Amy Welsman McCann, Heritage Park Gazebo
6:30 pm (approximately) – Fire trucks will arrive at Centennial Park
9:00 pm – Barrie Film Festival – Movie: LADDER 49, Centennial Park

LADDER 49 introduces the audience to the life of Jack Morrison (Joaquin Phoenix), a firefighter for the Baltimore City fire department. Captain Mike Kennedy (John Travolta), takes Jack under his wing to make him the best firefighter in the city. Time passes and Jack is now a seasoned veteran on the rescue team and while on a four-alarm fire to a burning 20-story building, the floor collapses around him. Jack falls through the building into the middle of the inferno, and is rendered unconscious. Awaiting rescue, Jack begins to relive his life of his wife and kids, and his career through flashbacks.
